Christmas
Christmas is a celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ in Christian cultures. In Japan, however, observances are generally not of a religious nature. People give gifts to family members, boyfriends or girlfriends, and among friends, and enjoy eating special “Christmas cake.” Shopping areas and streets are festooned with decorations and Christmas lights and Christmas carols are heard everywhere.
