Cherry Blossom Viewing (Hanami)

The blossoming of the cherry trees in late March and early April is the occasion for parties called “hanami,” held mainly out of doors under the trees to enjoy the flowers and celebrate the coming of spring. Many people gather in parks and elsewhere with picnic lunches and enjoy eating and drinking together.
