March is the month during which the weather grows warmer little by little, with a palpable feel of spring, and it is also a month of partings in human affairs. It is the month of the end of the school year and of graduation ceremonies.
March 3 is Doll’s Day (Hinamatsuri), when dolls are traditionally set out to celebrate the healthy growth of girls, and March 14 is “White Day,” when those who received chocolates on February 14 are supposed to return the gift of chocolate.
Holidays: Spring equinox (Shunbun no Hi; around the 20th, depending on the year)
