The picture book series Mottainai Baasan, published in 2004, is a best seller that has sold over one million copies. It has been published serially in magazines and also translated into several languages. In June of this year, the Mottainai Baasan anime series debuted on YouTube.

Mottainai Baasan appears out of nowhere when we are doing something wasteful, and shows us how to change our habits. In this issue, we introduce activities around the Mottainai Baasan anime series and the contents of "eco-friendly living" from the Takarabako archives, aiming to provide opportunities for students to think about and discuss what they can do to help the environment.
Worksheets for three different levels are available.

「もったいないばあさん」という絵本シリーズは2004年に出版されてから、100万部を越えるベストセラーになり、子ども新聞や雑誌にも連載され、多くの外国語にも翻訳出版されています。今年6月には、アニメのもったいないばあさんシリーズがYouTubeに登場しました。

もったいないことをしていると、どこからともなく現れて、どうしたら「もったいない」をなくすことができるか教えてくれる「もったいないばあさん」。今回は、もったいないばあさんのアニメと、くりっくにっぽんのアーカイブから、『Takarabako』no.20―身近なエコ運動―を取り上げ、子どもたちと一緒に身近な環境問題について話し合い、どんな行動につなげることができるのかを考える学習活動を紹介します。
今回も3つのレベルでワークシートを準備しています。
