【1】Be active with heartfelt support

This issue features an article about "Ko So A Do Gurun," a community activity support center in Yokohama. The center is a place where people with disabilities work that supports them to be a part of society. "Ko So A Do Gurun" stands for a message of inclusivity that embraces "koko - us," "soko - people around us," "asoko - the local community" and "doko - anywhere, everywhere." At this center, all these groups can meet and join together - "gurun" (as if in a circle). Tanaka Lau Andrea Namie, a university student from Yokohama National University, interviewed Ms. Ogawa, the director of "Ko So A Do Gurun," about its activities.
The article is rewritten to make it easier to use in the classroom.

2. Discussion points

i) Ms. Tanaka used「方々」not「人たち」. Why do you think she chose this word?

j) Ms. Tanaka says 「だれかのために活動することは何よりも満たされることだ。自分以外をよろこばせる幸せ」. Have you ever felt such joy or happiness? When did you feel it? Share your experience with your classmates.


3. Creative tasks

k) Inspired by this interview, imagine that Ms. Tanaka decides to work as a volunteer at "Ko So A Do Gurun" every Saturday. Write an email to Ms. Ogawa from Ms. Tanaka's standpoint. Include the expression of gratitude and what she thought after the interview. (about 400 ji)

【1】暖かく活動し見守る

横浜市にある地域活動支援センター「こそあど ぐるん」は、しょうがいのある人たちの働く場であり、社会参加を支援する場でもあります。「ここ」だけではなく、まわりの人の「そこ」、地域の「あそこ」、まだ見たことがない「どこ」、たくさんの「こ・そ・あ・ど」がギュっとつまった出会いの場。「こ・そ・あ・ど」は「ぐるん」とつながっていく。そんな「こそあど　ぐるん」の活動について、横浜国立大学の留学生、タナカ・ラウ・アンドレア・ナミエさんが「こそあど ぐるん」の所長、小川さんにインタビューしました。
