My father, Kazunori, is a man of elegance and good taste. He likes good literature, and even at the age of 70 he's hoping to become a historical novelist. My father is a true believer that "all were created equal," and all we kids have been influenced by that way of thinking. There was never any ranking among us on the basis of age, for example, as in many Japanese families. We share this common way of thinking about equality and I think it allows us to have confidence in each other and trust one another whatever happens.
