進路指導室で受験する大学について先生に相談しているところです。進路指導室の棚には、赤本（過去の試験問題集）や大学受験に関する資料が並んでいます。ここでは大学案内や試験の日程、難易度、試験科目の内容について調べることができます。夏休みに入る前に、各教科の先生に参考書を紹介してもらいました。「しっかり勉強して、新学期にはげっそりしてきます！」と先生に宣言したので、この夏は友だちとあまり遊ばないで、勉強に専念しました。

This room, the Shinro Shidoshitsu, is for consulting with our teachers about what universities to aim for. The shelves in this room are lined with files and books with information about the entrance exams for different universities and "akahon," which are collections of questions given on previous entrance examinations for different universities for reference in studying. We go here to get information about the universities we're interested in, the dates their entrance exams are to be held, estimated difficulty of exams, and the subjects they test applicants for. Before summer vacation began, I asked my teachers in each subject to recommend extra-study texts. I declared to my teachers that I would study so hard I'd come back from vacation as thin as a rail. This summer I didn't spend much time with my friends; I really concentrated on my studies.
