Distribute “A
Day in the Life: Club Activities” and Worksheet
#5.
|
 |
Students
imagine if they were to study at a Japanese high school for one year what
kind of club they might join. Students fill in their worksheets individually,
referring to the material studied in Activities 1 through 3, and to the
various viewpoints of the high school students presented in “A Day in the
Life: Club Activities,” etc.
|
 |
Students
break up into pairs or groups and discuss their answers to the worksheet.
|
 |
Each pair or group summarizes its opinions and presents them to the class.
Discuss as a class what the students think about Japanese clubs.
Tip:
Encourage students to freely discuss their thoughts
on the good points (e.g., students can make the most of their hobbies
and skills; clubs offer a place to build good relationships with others;
students can be involved in society) and the bad points of Japanese clubs
(e.g., lack of freedom; difficulty of reconciling practice with study;
difficulty getting along with other club members), referring to what
they have studied so far, Mini Encyclopedia, etc.
