[excerpt]
Taking the crown in high school football, Osaka Sangyo University
High School (from Kansai) crushed Kanagawa's Hosei II High School
(from Kanto) 64-0 in the "Christmas Bowl" (held yesterday at the
Osaka Nagai Stadium), winning the National High School Championship
Tournament title in American football for the third time and two
years in a row.

Agility Unimpaired by Hearing Disability
Actively participating since last year as a regular despite a
hearing disability, OSU High's defensive back, Yamamoto, played
a central role in the team's shutout victory. His near intercept
of a pass at the start of the fourth quarter and repulse of counter-offensives
by Hosei II High displayed no hint of a handicap. In April, Yamamoto
has been accepted to attend Kinki University and continue playing
American football. Expressing his ambition, he says, "I want to
be an asset to the team from first year on."
