Hello,
my name is Elizabeth. I live in Staten Island, New York.
I was born on January 17th 1988. I live with my parents,
grandmother, and my siblings. I have an older sister and
older brother. I am the youngest. Currently, I attend Susan
E. Wagner High School on Staten Island as a grade 11 student.
I am also in the business program.
My hobbies are using the computer, mostly the Internet.
I run 2 websites that I am very proud of. I taught myself
to build websites including creating graphics on the computer.
I inspired a number of people which I began to teach online.
I like anime and manga
ever since I first heard of Sailor Moon [
美少女戦士セーラームーン].
Some of my favorites are Yu-Gi-Oh! [
遊戯王],
Naruto [
ナルト] and
Full Metal Alchemist [
鋼の錬金術師].
Because of my fascination of anime, I began to teach myself
Japanese, even though my school does not offer the language.
In school, I have learned French and at home I learned Chinese
(Cantonese). Now, I can read a few
katakana and
hiragana and understand it. I try to watch more
anime to understand the language.
Another part of my life is music. My favorite genre of music
is rock. However, I like to listen to all sorts of music.
I have been listening to classical music lately, particularly
Vanessa Mae. She is one of the most popular violinists today.
I like her music so much, was probably because I used to
play the violin when I was younger. As I got older, I liked
to listen to rock music. My favorite bands are Linkin Park
and Incubus. I listen to Japanese rock music as well. I
particularly like Asian Kung-Fu Generation. I don't understand
what they were singing in most of their songs but I found
myself listening to them all the time.
Recently I have joined the fencing team. Our school never
had that sport before, only the common sports such as baseball,
basketball and swimming. However, I have a slight fascination
with swords and I want to learn how to use them. It's not
very common to see a female holding a sword, and my mother
is a little bit afraid. My father had quite a few swords
when he was growing up in Hong Kong. He gave me one of his
swords as a gift, which I truly cherish, but there isn't
a safe place to hang it up in my room!
Whenever I am free from my studies, I group together with
my friends to see movies or shop at the mall. I always save
my movie stubs to keep the memories that I had with them.
I have a large amount of friends of diverse backgrounds
which makes me love to learn about their culture more each
day. Not only do I have friends at school, but on the Internet
as well. I have several pen pals from different places,
such as England, Malaysia, Australia and Hong Kong. This
inspires me to travel around the world. However, it has
been a long time since I have traveled outside of the United
States. When I was four years old, my family and I traveled
to China for two months. I do not remember everything from
then, and that was the last time I have ever visited another
country.
