ぼくの名前はカイルといい、ノースカロライナ州のチャペルヒルに住む17歳です。出身はイリノイ州のシカゴで、今住んでいるところはシカゴに比べると3分の1くらいのとても小さい町です。
   日本語を勉強しはじめて3年目になりますが、これはぼくが習った外国語のなかで唯一続いていています。今までスペイン語、フランス語、ドイツ語に挑戦しましたが、どれも1年もしないうちに止めてしまいました。日本語を続けていられる理由のひとつはすばらしい先生です。先生は教室の中でも外でもいつもぼくら生徒のことを助けてくれます。先生とぼくたち生徒がお互いに信頼しあっているので、授業に出席すること、勉強することがとても楽しいのです。3年間でずいぶん上達したと思いますが、ここではすぐ英語の生活に戻ってしまって日本語を覚えるのが難しいので、やはり日本に住まないかぎり流暢に話せるようにはならないと思います。日本語だけではなく日本や日本の文化についても興味があります。
   そのほかにたくさんの友だちとビリヤードやポーカー、パーティーをしたりするのが好きです。エリーというガールフレンドがいますが、今はグリーンズボロにある大学に通っています。もちろんいつもそばにいてくれるガールフレンドがほしいと思っています。平凡ですが手ごたえのある、これがぼくの今の生活です。

My name if Kyle, I am 17 years old and live in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. I am originally from Chicago, Illinois, and North Carolina in comparison is very small. The town I live in now is about one three city blocks of Chicago's downtown.
      I have been taking Japanese at the High School for three years now, and it is the first language I have ever succeeded in. I had taken Spanish, French, and German before and had never completed even one year. One reason for my success in Japanese is my incredible Sensei, she has always helped me as much as possible, inside and outside of school. I have grown to love her just as she loves all her students, and this relationship makes learning incredibly easy because we are very comfortable in class. After three years my Japanese has steadily increased, but I fear that I will never be fluent until I live in Japan because returning to English after learning does nothing but make it harder to remember Japanese. Either way, Japanese is my favorite class and learning about Japan and its culture is one of my most favorite things to do.
      I also love to play pool, poker and party. I like hanging out with friends a lot, drinking coffee and just hanging around. I am in love with a girl named Elea and unfortunately she attends college in Greensboro. Nevertheless, I still like to have girlfriends in Chapel Hill, which gets very interesting. This is my life, its pretty subtle and uneventful, but it is a challenge.
