INTRO
Hi,
my name is Gerard. I'm a 15 year old student at Christ the
King Anglican Collage. I have lived in Cobram my whole life.
I come from a large family with 6 sisters and 3 brothers.
My main interest is computer games. I play the computere whenever
I have time. I also like listening to CDs.
INTERESTS
My
main interest, computer games, occupies a large amount of
my spare. I often spend hours on end playing the computer.
A good game is like a good book: you can't put it down until
the very end. I am like that with computer games, as soon
as I get a new game; I have to play it until I beat it. But
now that I am in Year 10, and I get much more homework, I
can't play as much. Because Cobram doesn't have an Internet
cafe, I have to go online to play other people. I guess that's
one of the drawbacks of living in a small town.
My other interest, CDs, is for when I
feel like lazing around and doing nothing. My favourite
types of music are hard rock and techno. Popular music for
teenagers my age is pop, rock. rap, R&B and hip-hop.
Music has a big influence of the youth
of today. It can influence how you act, what you wear, and
generally how you live your life. Teenagers want to be like
their idols so they with dress like them, talk like them
and act like them. Posters of famous people decorate most
teenagers' walls.
PERSONALITY
I
tend to be shy around people I don't know, but when I am with
my friends, I am a bit of a clown. I always find the funny
side of things. I am not a very good listener. I am easily
distracted, especially in a boring lesson at school. I don't
take many things too seriously unless I have to. When I am
listening to a song I like, I sing along with it, much to
the annoyance of those around me.
COBRAM: MY TOWN
Cobram
is a small town in northern Victoria on the banks of the Murray
River. It has a population of about 5,000 people. Most of
the people are Australians, Italians or Iraqis.
The only fast food available in Cobram
is fish and chips. We are about 1 hour from the nearest
McDonalds or KFC.
There are many fruit and dairy farms in
Cobram. Peaches, apricots, cherries, apples, strawberries,
oranges, and pears are the types of fruit grown here.
The main winter sports played in Cobram
are football, soccer and netball. In the summer, cricket
and water sports are played.
There are 2 primary schools and 2 high
schools in Cobram.
SCHOOL TRIP TO JAPAN
In
September, our class is going on a trip to Japan. I am very
excited about this because I have never gone overseas before.
I will also be able to meet my pen pal that I have been writing
to for 3 years now. Not many people my age have the opportunity
to travel overseas so I think of myself as very lucky to be
given this opportunity. |
