Breakfast: I get out of bed at about 8:00 am on school days. I usually have cereal for breakfast. Sometimes I have toast as well. On a cold winter morning, I might have a bowl of porridge to warm me up. While eating breakfast, I usually watch T.V.
Brushing Teeth: Once I have eaten breakfast, I brush my teeth. I brush my teeth twice a day: before school and before I got to bed at night. I use Colgate toothpaste. I brush my teeth for approximately 3 minutes.
Getting To School: I live about 2 kilometres from school. This means I can ride my bike to and from school. It takes about 3-5 minutes for me to ride to school. When it is raining or very cold, I get a lift to school with Mum. It can get quite tiring when I have a heavy school bag on my back.
Class: Each school day is made up of six 45-minute periods, as well as recess and lunchtime. When we arrive to class, the students stand and greet the teacher. Each student has a record book in which we write our homework for each lesson.
Recess and Lunchtime: Recess goes for about 20 minutes. Lunchtime goes for 40 minutes. For recess, I usually have some biscuits or fruit. At lunchtime, I have a sandwich. Sometimes I get a lunch order. I can get some lollies and chips from the canteen if I want to. I play soccer with my friends during these breaks. It is good to get out of the confines of the classroom and get some fresh air.
After School: When I get home from school, I get something to eat and drink. Then I settle down and watch T.V. for about an hour. If I don't watch T.V., I play the computer. Then I start my homework. I do homework for about an hour. If I don't have much homework, I play the computer. Once I have finished my homework, I do chores around the house. I help to make dinner, wash the dishes, and feed my fish. I watch T.V., while I eat dinner. T.V. is a talking point at school as my friends and I discuss our favorite T.V. shows.
Bedtime: On a school night, I go to bed at 9:30 pm. On the weekend, I'm usually in bed by about midnight. My bedroom is about the usual size for a bedroom. I have a built-in wardrobe, a chest of draws, a bedside table, and a bed. The most annoying thing about my bedroom is when the sunlight wakes me up early in the morning.

INTRO
Hi, my name is Gerard. I'm a 15 year old student at Christ the King Anglican Collage. I have lived in Cobram my whole life. I come from a large family with 6 sisters and 3 brothers. My main interest is computer games. I play the computere whenever I have time. I also like listening to CDs.
INTERESTS
My main interest, computer games, occupies a large amount of my spare. I often spend hours on end playing the computer. A good game is like a good book: you can't put it down until the very end. I am like that with computer games, as soon as I get a new game; I have to play it until I beat it. But now that I am in Year 10, and I get much more homework, I can't play as much. Because Cobram doesn't have an Internet cafe, I have to go online to play other people. I guess that's one of the drawbacks of living in a small town.

My other interest, CDs, is for when I feel like lazing around and doing nothing. My favourite types of music are hard rock and techno. Popular music for teenagers my age is pop, rock. rap, R&B and hip-hop.

Music has a big influence of the youth of today. It can influence how you act, what you wear, and generally how you live your life. Teenagers want to be like their idols so they with dress like them, talk like them and act like them. Posters of famous people decorate most teenagers' walls.

PERSONALITY
I tend to be shy around people I don't know, but when I am with my friends, I am a bit of a clown. I always find the funny side of things. I am not a very good listener. I am easily distracted, especially in a boring lesson at school. I don't take many things too seriously unless I have to. When I am listening to a song I like, I sing along with it, much to the annoyance of those around me.
COBRAM: MY TOWN
Cobram is a small town in northern Victoria on the banks of the Murray River. It has a population of about 5,000 people. Most of the people are Australians, Italians or Iraqis.

The only fast food available in Cobram is fish and chips. We are about 1 hour from the nearest McDonalds or KFC.

There are many fruit and dairy farms in Cobram. Peaches, apricots, cherries, apples, strawberries, oranges, and pears are the types of fruit grown here.

The main winter sports played in Cobram are football, soccer and netball. In the summer, cricket and water sports are played.

There are 2 primary schools and 2 high schools in Cobram.

SCHOOL TRIP TO JAPAN
In September, our class is going on a trip to Japan. I am very excited about this because I have never gone overseas before. I will also be able to meet my pen pal that I have been writing to for 3 years now. Not many people my age have the opportunity to travel overseas so I think of myself as very lucky to be given this opportunity.

I thought the Deai photos were excellent at showing how Japanese people live. Some of them were very imaginative at showing things unique to Japan. Others showed things that were similar with other countries. Some of the photos gave me ideas on what photos I could include in my project.
