Objectives:
Procedure:
1.
Show students the Grade 6 Class 1 timetable from the fourth page of the URL below, and ask them questions about it. Depending on students’ questions, review and/or introduce vocabulary and sentence patterns. http://www.tjf.or.jp/takarabako/PDF/TB03_SOZAI.pdf
“What subjects do they study?”
“What days do they go to school?”
“What days do they not go to school?”
“From what time to what time are students at school?”
“What do they study during the period __ on (day of the week)?”
“Which period on what day do they study (subject name)?”

2.
Have students think about what they want to study.
“What kind of course schedule do you want?”
“I want to study (subject name).”
Let’s have a period for (subject name).”
Examples:
  • To study the language of a country that I’ve chosen.
  • To take care of an unusual plant or animal.

3.
Distribute worksheets. Based on what students come up with in #2, they create their ideal timetable. Below it, students write an introduction on “My School Timetable.”
Example:

“At my school, we study (subject name) and (subject name). During (subject name) class, we do _____ and _____. We have a lot of fun.”
