Koshien Baseball Tournament

“Koshien”is shorthand for the National High School Baseball Championships held at the Koshien Stadium in Nishinomiya (Hyogo prefecture), twice annually in spring and summer. Regional tournaments are first held in each prefecture and the winning teams of each prefecture go to Koshien for the final nationwide playoffs. The Koshien tournament is the largest-scale high school sports event in Japan. Recently other high school clubs have been holding nationwide tournaments and borrowing the Koshien name for their“Dance Koshien,”“Haiku Koshien,”and so on.
