The curriculum map shows how Deai can be used in conjunction with the Ima! 2 textbook. The chart shows the topics, language functions, language structures and vocabulary of each chapter. It also shows cultural links between the chapter and the Deai, activity plans to link them, and relevant photographs of Deai.

Along with the textbook NAKAMA, students learn cultural aspect of Japan, especially the aspects of Japanese high school students with using the Deai photo series. Instructors can help students to become aware of cultural differences and similarities between Japan and the U.S., and to understand Japanese culture. Throughout the course, instructor divides students into groups, and they work with a series of one Deai student's photo series. Various activities can emphasize the cultural understanding, and help students practice language functions along with each lesson of NAKAMA.

This curriculum map shows how Deai can be used in conjunction with the Wakatta! A Senior High School Japanese Course textbook. There are two sample lesson plans to be conducted after the Unit 1 and the Unit 3.
Using Japanese learned in the Wakatta! text, students pretend to introduce themselves as one of the Deai students and compare their own daily lives with those of the Deai students.
