After graduating from high school, I worked at a theme park called Gyokusendo doing eisaa for two years. After that, I started working for a fish wholesaler. I set the day's prices of fish that I buy on auction. We sell to various clients like sashimi shops and the Makishi Public Market in Naha. We sell tuna to big markets like Tsukiji in Tokyo and the fish market in Osaka. We size up its "nice body," if you know what I mean, slicing off a bit of the tail to get an image of the rest of the meat on the tuna... Carving whole tuna for market was part of our daily work. Large ones can weigh up to 300 kg.
I don't get any days off at the company where I work now, except for special occasions like weddings and funerals. No sick days, either. Cruel company, right! (laughing) I took the day off today specially to meet all of you. Even though I don't get any days off, I've never disliked my job. We have a lot of different clients, and I think they like me because of my kind of cheery and high-tension humor. Working, I'm always thinking "I'm doing this because our customers like me," and it's their attachment that keeps me going. That's why I don't think of my job as hard. When you think your job is hard, you're done for. Yep, that's the way it is.
My life is stable thanks to that job, so I'd like to continue working there for the next three years or so. After three years, though, I hope to go into entertainment, which is something I'm interested in. I want to be an entertainer.
I have no plans to return to Izena island in the future. Rather, I want to be an entertainer. That's all!! (laughing)!
Lastly, I think it's important
to like yourself regardless of how tough a situation you're in. That's
how you can continue making yourself better. That's all!
