The Many Faces of Matsui
/ Tsushima Naoki (Aomori)
Message from the photographer
I first met Matsui at an introductory session for new students at the school photography club. That day, I'd been telling a friend that I was one of only two first-year students who were planning to join, when Matsui came over and said, "I think the other one you're talking about is me." Because we were able to chat a little, my nervousness toned down and I was able to feel excited about the club. I first thought of Matsui as sort of a gloomy character, but he soon showed himself to be the life of the party, shooting off funny jokes, making funny faces, and grinning widely. We get along well, and talk a lot, really loudly. I'm glad to have gotten to know Matsui, and took tons of pictures of him. Matsui is an irreplaceable part of my life!
About the subject
Matsui is a close friend, and also a fellow photography club member; he's very important to me. Because sometimes he has brilliant, once-in-a-lifetime expressions, I decided I wanted to record them.
