About This Website
This website provides photographs from the prizewinning works (one grand prix, two first-prize, two second-prize, and twenty other prizewinning works) in the “Photo and Essay Division” for high school students in the “Yomiuri Photo Grand Prix” (organized by Yomiuri Shimbun and supported by the Japan Forum) with permission of the photographers and their subjects.
The “Photo and Essay Division,” held since 2008, carries on the “Lives of Japanese High School Students: Photo and Message Contest,” held by TJF from 1997 to 2006 for the purpose of showing the daily lives and lifestyles of Japanese high school students to high school students all over the world. A high school student chooses one high school student as his or her subject and presents him or her using at most five photographs, along with an essay about the photographer’s thoughts and impressions.
