市川の家には、春休み、夏休み、冬休みの長期の休みに帰ります。今日はお姉ちゃんも妹も出かけていたので、両親といろいろと話をしながら宅配のピザとおばあちゃん手づくりのサンドウィッチをお昼ご飯に食べました。
このリビングのテーブルはわたしたち姉妹の勉強机にもなります。わたしの家では、自分の部屋ではなく、みんながくつろいでいる横で勉強します。わたしが小学生のころはお姉ちゃんに勉強を教えてもらい、中学生になると今度はわたしが妹の勉強をみてやりました。
お父さんは、とてもおだやかで、マイペースな人です。以前は山岳部で山登りをしていたアウトドア派です。わたしが大自然にあこがれるのは、きっとお父さんの影響もあると思います。また、わたしの動物好きもお父さんに似たのだと思います。お父さんは電気製品のメーカーに勤めています。仕事から帰るのが遅く、顔をあわせる時間は少ないのですが、存在感があります。
お母さんは、とても元気がよくて何ごともテキパキとこなすタイプです。化粧品会社で事務の仕事をしているのですが、仕事と、家事や子育てをうまく両立させています。わたしとは性格が違うので、かえって気があうみたいです。お母さんの大きな声を聞くとなぜか安心します。

I go home to Ichikawa during extended spring, summer, and winter vacations. On this day, neither of my sisters were home. While chatting we had a lunch of pizza ordered out and sandwiches my grandmother made.
The table in this living room was the place we kids always studied. In my house, we always studied out in the living room where other family members were relaxing. When I was in elementary school, my big sister helped me with my studies and when I was in junior high, I helped my little sister.
My father is a very quiet, gentle person with a relaxed manner. When he was young, he was a mountain climber and an outdoorsman. I'm pretty sure my fascination with nature reflects his influence on me. My love of animals also comes from him. He is employed at a company that manufactures electric appliances. He usually comes home from work late, so I don't always see that much of him, but he is an important presence in the family.
My mother is always full of energy and does things very efficiently and briskly. She has a job working in the office at a cosmetics firm, but she is really good at balancing work with housework and childrearing. We are quite different in character, but maybe because of that, we get along pretty well. My mother's big booming voice always makes me feel curiously reassured.
