Locations: Tokyo
Miyagi : Tokyo : Osaka : Hiroshima
Our city, Tokyo, is a mosaic of people and places. Shinjuku is flooded with white-collar office workers on weekdays, but on weekends and holidays it is bursting with shoppers at its department stores and shopping complexes. Parts of the area blocked off from traffic are filled with families on shopping trips and street performers gathering crowds. At Tsukiji is a mammoth wholesale fish market. From very early in the morning, it is throbbing with the sounds of fresh tuna being auctioned and fishmongers hawking every imaginable variety of seafood. Shimokitazawa is a place where we go after school or on holidays for fun. It’s full of young people and rich-looking persons. It’s a warren of narrow cluttered streets where you can find interesting fashions and a certain feeling of calm. A complex of urban centers, each with a different character, Tokyo is a city of many faces. We look forward to photographing this city with you, high school students from quite a different city, as we enjoy getting to know one another.
