Message from the photographer
What is she seeing with those eyes? What is she thinking? What is she feeling and how is she going to paint it? I can hear her drawing beside me with a sharpened pencil. She is beside me and yet so far ahead of me. I can catch up with her but she is out of reach. She is having fun even when she is working hard. She is such a major presence to me. I want to catch up, I do not want to lose. That’s why I can keep going. She is always pulling my hand. I am so attracted to her that I have no time to worry about other things.
About the subject
She has been my best friend since primary school. We are both going to a high school far from our local school to study art. We grew up together at the same pace but now she is leaving me behind. I chose her because I wanted to know more about her – what she is seeing and what she is thinking.
