【1】What Is It to Be Human?
Ishiguro Hiroshi declares that his purpose of creating androids is to answer this question: what is it to be human? Creating androids of himself (nicknamed Ishigroid), Matsuko Deluxe (television personality), and other models, Ishiguro has become a world-famous leader in robotics research. He claims that robots will break down the boundaries between humans and robots. Ishiguro pioneers a new field in order to test his hypotheses to the question: what are the important features of the human interaction?

- You could go so far as to say that human beings are in the process of becoming robots.

k) Do you think you can make friends with robots? Write an essay titled 'Humans and Robots: Can We Be Friends?'
l) Think of situations where talking appliances can be helpful to people. Which appliances do you think should talk? What do you want them to say? Use illustrations and speech bubbles to express your ideas.
m) Imagine that the Ishigroid is visiting your school and you are going to interview him. Create the interview questions. You may also ask questions that you had when reading this article.

人型ロボットを作るのは人間とは何かを知るためだ、と言い切る石黒浩氏。マツコ･デラックスや自分自身のアンドロイド（イシグロイド）などを開発し、世界から注目を集めるロボット研究の第一人者だ。ロボットと人間の境界はなくなっていく、と語る石黒氏は、人と人が関わる時にどういう要素が重要なのか仮説を立て、それを検証するためにさらに新しい分野を開拓してゆく。
