Project Report : Miyagi
Miyagi : Tokyo : Osaka : Hiroshima
A meeting on the shinkansen bullet train on the way
to Sendai.
Mr. Ogawa, a teacher at Shiogama High School, takes the participants
to see the Shiogama Kagura Preservation Society practice.
Participants watch koto practice.
It’s
dark, and Boram and Kyungju have trouble getting good shots. “Help!” Honda-san,
the Miyagi team photographer, is in great demand.
During breaks, members of the Preservation Society explain the
meaning and history of the kagura dances to FOJ participants.
Alice tries on a kagura (Shinto dance and music) costume.
With the owner of the o-dango-ya (dumpling shop) as a model, the
team learns about composition and angles.
Alice leads the group in the interview. Boram and Kyungju wondered why the shop
is closed so early in the day, but they still find it hard to speak up.
Mr. Ogawa gives the team a lesson on the geography of the city from the roof
of Shiogama High School.
Participants learn tips on shooting and things to keep in mind when selecting
photos for their final presentation.
